Parent Teacher Association

Parent Teacher Association

The PTA is an organisation of parents and staff which encourages closer links between home and school.  The main purpose of the PTA is ultimately fundraising, enabling the provision of additional ‘extras’ to make learning more interesting and exciting for the children.

All parents of children at Cheddington School are members of our PTA.  Following the September AGM, we have a committee of 19 parents drawn from a cross-section of year groups within the school.  These parents will take the lead in organising fundraising events during the course of the school year.

Committee (Role Holders) 2018/2019:  Co-Chair(s): Faye Sladden & Kate Holder, Secretary: Lynne Forster, Treasurer: Meri Powell

Committee:  Dan Barber, Will Palmer, Naomi O’Neill, Nicky Brown, Sally Williams, Ruth Hadaway, Emma Poulson, Mandy Crawley, Laura McGillycuddy, Laura Stoddart, Helen Howes, Lindsay Abbott Clare Cleland, Sarah Taylor, Tracey Jones

How is money raised? - We raise funds through a number of events, key annual events being the: ‘Christmas Market’ and the ‘Village Summer fete’.

Other fundraising includes: discos, cake sales, ice-creams (summer), refreshments at school performances, uniform and second-hand uniform, Christmas Cards designed by the children, Photos by Carrie, Summer Ball, Bags to School, Recycling, Easyfundraising etc.

All of these will be advertised in advance in the newsletter and Facebook page.

We always welcome fundraising ideas, so please do let us know if you have an ideaWe have a mailbox in the foyer of the school or contact us on the details below.

How is money spent? - The PTA committee, in conjunction with Mrs Tamlyn, discuss how to spend funds.  Over the last couple of years we have worked towards larger projects, providing play equipment for the children, and our last project involved funding a new pond area.

We provide recorders to children in Y3 and we also present our leavers each year with a dictionary as a memento of their time at Cheddington.

Each year we fund other smaller projects, all to the benefit of the children.

How can I be involved in my PTA?

If you would like to become a member of the committee, then please do speak to any of us or via the contact details below. Alternatively look out for any requests for help sent via: Joinos, School Newsletter or our Facebook Page.  We could not do some of our fundraising without the assistance of our willing volunteers.
